LEYLAND police are urging people to keep their back doors locked even when they are at home, after a spate of sneak thefts.
Gold spectacles, a cheque book, speed bank cards and a Marks and Spencers tartan purse were stolen from a house on Westgate on Sunday evening between 4-6pm.
Thieves also crept into two houses in Leyland on Friday evening last week and stole pension books, cash and purses that were left in the kitchen.
Burglars also stole a handbag from a house on Highfield Avenue, Farington on Sunday.
DI Graham Bamber of Leyland Police said: "Sneak thieves creeping into houses through open back doors seems a problem peculiar to Leyland especially during the last two or three months. People leave their back doors open in an evening and go into another room to watch the television. We are urging people to be more cautious."
