CAUTIOUS community leaders were urging East Lancashire Muslims to act with restraint during the Gulf conflict. Religious leaders in mosques throughout the county were asking followers not to do or say anything which might cause tension in the area.

Racial equality officer Rafique Malik said he had received reports that three Blackburn Mosques had been attacked and 50 Muslim youths had gathered on a car park.
