INSPECTORS who visited Fairfield County Primary School in Bury awarded it top marks for progress.

They found high standards across the board in leadership and stability in the face of staff changes, including the recent departure of the head and deputy head.

New head Chris Ashley said: "It is a tribute to the whole community - the children for their hard work and the parents and governors for their support.

"Now it is our task to continue the work and, alongside the governors, use the inspector's findings to keep moving the school towards our goal of achieving the very best for the children of Fairfield."
