BUDDING tennis star Anna Hartley has hit all the right strokes to become one of the country's top young hopes for a future Wimbledon champion.

The 11-year-old from Burnley was named as being among the leading eight girls under 12 in Britain after an intensive coaching course at a top tennis school.

Anna, a pupil at Mansfield High School, Brierfield, is a member of Blackburn Northern tennis club. She started out three years ago playing short tennis at the Thompson Centre in Burnley and since then has won a large collection of trophies and prizes at competitions up and down the country.

Anna was invited to go to top residential tennis school Bisham Abbey for extra coaching, an honour given only to the top 24 female under-12 tennis players in Britain.

Her skills earned her a ranking in the top eight and a chance to play at the Queen's Club in London.

Anne is hoping to get a place at Bisham Abbey.
