MORE than 2,500 people will have attended special information sessions in the Stoneyholme and Daneshouse area of Burnley when the project closes next month.

The Community Forum help group won ELTEC cash backing to run 90 meetings with expert speakers providing details of services available to the public and how to access them.

The awareness sessions in the local community centre welcomed speakers from the council, health bodies, education, training and job creation groups. The three-times-a-week meetings, for all sections of the community, are nearing an end after seven months and organisers say they have proved a big hit.

"They have been most worthwhile and well appreciated by both members of the community and the agencies which can provide help and advice to the people," said project co-ordinator, Ejaz Hussein.
