NIKLAS Gudmundsson has shrugged off speculation that he might be a target for other clubs, to pledge his immediate future to Ewood Park.

One report claimed that the Blackburn Rovers loan star's former boss Mats Jingblad, now in charge of Swedish champions IFK Gothenburg, had wanted him.

And there have been suggestions that other Continental clubs are keeping an eye on his progress at Ewood.

But Gudmundsson, who had his first taste of Premiership action as a substitute for Rovers against Sheffield Wednesday, said he wasn't interested in going anywhere else for the moment.

"I don't know anything about Gothenburg or any other clubs," said the Swedish international. But I want to give myself a chance in England. I am not interested in any other clubs at this stage.

"I have until March to see if Blackburn want me and if I am to be one of their players for the future. I am still only 23." Jingblad has already signed three players for IFK, including going back to his former club Halmstad for Gudmundsson's team-mate of last season Niklas Alexandersson. The report said he had wanted his "former star pupil" Gudmundsson.

The Swede is on extended loan at Ewood from Halmstad, with an option to buy in March for a seven-figure fee.

And he is philosophical about his lengthy wait for a taste of first team action, after playing a handful of reserve games.

"I have been very patient, but I must still be patient, because I don't know if I am going to play in the next game" he said.

"It takes time to settle down and to get into the English style of play. But I was pleased to get into the picture when the team had a good win and everybody was happy with the result."
