I HEARTILY concur with D Pearson (Letters, May 8) concerning the European Union scam.

There is ever-increasing anger in this country concerning our subordination to Brussel's unelected bureaucrats.

Joining a single European currency would mean abolishing the Pound Sterling and the Bank of England.

All Bank of England reserves would be handed over to the European Central Bank in Germany and all Britain's foreign exchange earnings (£79,000 million per annum) would benefit the Euro-state and its single currency.

I would end by saying, as an Englishman and a Lancashire lad: 'Think on!'
