A MAJOR conference aimed at Asian businesses will be staged in Blackburn next month.

Organisers believe that, despite the huge success of Asian entrepreneurs, many firms are not taking full advantage of help and advice available to new and existing ventures

The event will look at new business opportunities, exporting and marketing. Advice on the help which training and enterprise councils, banks and government offices can offer will also be covered.

Asians own more than 50 per cent of the independent retail outlets in the country and boast more than 350 millionaires.

Local success stories have included Shami Ahmed, of the Joe Bloggs fashion empire, and Dr Tariq Mohammed and Tahir Mohsan, of the Burnley based Granville Technology Group.

The conference has been organised by the Brettonwood Partnership Ltd, an Asian led firm of international management consultants, with support from the Government Office for the North West, Parcel Force, Blackburn Partnership, Blackburn & District Enterprise Trust and Blackburn Borough Council.

ELTEC, Lancashire Enterprise, Blackburn City Challenge, Northern Foods, Midland Bank and the Bank of England are also co-sponsoring the event at the Moat House on June 12.

Further details and bookings can be made by contacting Shahid Mahmood on 01254 301333.
