ONE thing intrigues me about Mr Roy Brooks' letter 'Old jobs, more pay' (Journal Mailbox). He says that his income now is very little different than if he had remained employed. If this is so, he can't have helped Margaret Murdin save that much of the £1.8 million.

In addition, there is surely something wrong with a system that allows individuals to be paid handsome amounts of taxpayers money for doing nothing.

Perhaps, Mr Brooks, as you settle back in to your leisurely pursuits your conscience should be pricking a little?
