HEALTH experts were set to tackle East Lancashire's grim record as one of the worst heart attack zones in the country.

It was revealed that heart disease was claiming 1,100 each year in Blackburn, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley - a third of all deaths.

As part of a national heart campaign, health educators planned to stem the grim trend by stressing the importance of healthy eating.
