A SCHOOL in East Lancashire is forging links with youngsters in Estonia.

Pupils at Griffin Park School, Blackburn, are writing to children at a school in the Elva region as part of the Central Bureaux for Education Exchanges programme.

Head Craig Ward said: "We've formed a great link with the school over there and our pupils are writing on a regular basis.

"We've been amazed at the quality of English from the youngsters who have written back.

"The teachers in Estonia are also very keen on the project because they want to learn as much as possible about schools in the west."

Their pen pals are sending a copy of this newspaper to explain how they toured the newsroom of the Lancashire Evening Telegraph as part of the Newspapers in Education scheme.

The Lancashire Evening Telegraph runs the NIE project in partnership with the East Lancashire Training and Enterprise Council to give young people an awareness and understanding of local industry and, in particular, the newspaper industry.
