A VILLAGE collection scheme is set to have the last word on the 1997 general election.

The waste paper project in Barrowford is hoping to make money from the thousands of election leaflets posted through letter boxes in the area during the campaign.

Organisers are preparing to pick up the leaflets, along with other waste paper, during the next monthly collection on Saturday.

The scheme's organisers are also looking out for more volunteers to collect paper, particularly in the Higher Causeway, Lower Parrock Road and Nora Street area, and to stack it at the collection point at Nelson and Colne College.

Money raised by the recycling scheme goes to local groups and good causes.
