A LEADING councillor wants a campaign to clean up the "gateway to Colne" to attract more visitors.
Tony Greaves, chairman of the town's area committee at Pendle, said: "Primet Hill is the gateway to Colne's main street.
"There are too many blots on the landscape just there, each small in themselves but adding up to poor impressions to visitors. What it needs is a co-ordinated effort to remove these blots."
The committee has already agreed to pay £5,000 towards landscaping the untidy former garage site next to Primet Hill Community Centre. Other target areas include:
Former Knotts Lane post office which is boarded up and covered in ugly bills and posters.
Former Spinners Arms pub.
Graffiti-daubed railway bridge.
Weed-infested railway station car park.
