FANATICAL Bury FC supporter Gillian Filkins changed her wedding plans so she could attend the team's last match of the season.

Gillian, of Waterside Road in Summerseat, had planned her wedding, which took place at Bury Register Office on Saturday (May 3), for 11.30am. But once she found out Bury were to play on the same day she asked for the time to be changed to 10.30am.

She said: "It was lucky they were playing at home otherwise we would have had to change the day!

"When I explained why I had to bring the wedding forward the registrar just gave me a funny look. But there was no way I could miss the match!"

Gillian has been a firm Bury supporter since her brother Alan began taking her to the matches as a youngster.

When asked which event was more special Gillian hesitated and said diplomatically: "The wedding was the icing on the cake."

Last year her now husband John Kilfoyle planted flowers to spell Bury FC and this year he is to paint the house with the team colours blue and white.

Said John: "She has everything you can imagine to do with Bury FC and I don't say anything about it any more!"

Later the same evening the couple celebrated Gillian's 50th birthday, which took place on Sunday, May 4.

Gillian added: "It's been a triple celebration and a very busy but brilliant weekend."
