BUSINESS failures in the North West fell sharply last month according to figures released today.

A total of 15 company collapses were recorded in April, compared with 22 in March.

"Figures confirm the region's economy remains buoyant and that conditions for business remain positive," said John Wilson, of Deloitte & Touche who compiled the figures.

"The overall trend has continued downwards for a considerable time - there's no reason to suppose it will change in the foreseeable future."
