A GARDEN of Elements was officially opened at St Christopher's CE High School, Accrington.

The launch, celebrating the completion of phase one of their school ground improvement scheme, was attended by deputy mayor of Hyndburn Coun Ian Ormerod, and school governors.

They were were joined by major funders of the project, contractors, staff and pupils.

The opening ceremony was performed byMartin Kay of North West Water.

The work includes four murals, designed and painted by pupils, on the themes of wind, water, fire and earth.

Pupils and staff dug in to plant plants donated by parents.

St Christopher's has raised more than £1,000 towards the cost of the project and further funding has come from North West Water, Groundwork East Lancashire and Hyndburn Borough Council.
