HEART-SWAP patient Frank Bradshaw who was given the gift of life by an anonymous donor has celebrated the third anniversary of his operation.
The 61-year-old, of Branch Road, Lower Darwen, was given the new lease of life in a heart transplant at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester.
And the former plumber has revealed that he still manages to keep in shape with a daily swim.
Frank suffered a serious heart attack in 1979 and underwent open heart surgery two years later.
His condition deteriorated until doctors at Wythenshawe decided that he needed a transplant.
A donor heart became available on July 3, 1994, and he became the hospital's 251st heart transplant patient.
The father of two recently had a setback when he broke his wrist in a fall during a holiday to Cyprus with his wife, Eileen.
But it will not stop him toasting the donor when he dines out in style with Eileen this weekend to celebrate the anniversary of his operation.
