THE father of a murdered nine-year-old is still praying for his son's sex killer to be brought to justice 12 years on.

The semi-naked body of young Imraan Vohra was found dumped in Avenham Park, Preston on July 13, 1985. He had been sexually assaulted and strangled.

Imraan, who lived in James Street, was a pupil at Frenchwood School in Preston. He would have been 22 years old this year. For his family, the struggle to cope with his killing continues daily.

"It's still painful," said father Ismail Vohra: "Life goes on but we can't forget Imraan. I always pray that people will come forward with information. Justice should be done."

The family's anguish was heightened last June when Preston student Janet Murgatroyd was murdered.

Mr Vohra said: "I really feel for her family and know how devastating it must be for them."

Det Insp Bob Helm, who worked on the investigation as a detective constable, said the case had a huge impact on all the officers involved in the case: "With any crime of this nature the police never give up hope of finding the person who did it, especially when it involves a youngster," he said.

"Thousands of people were interviewed and statements taken but we never got that piece of ground-breaking evidence we needed. We did all we could.

"If people have that information we need, they simply need to get in touch by calling 01772 203203."
