A WINDFALL of £250,000 has been won to help East Lancashire's jobless find work.
The European funds have been awarded to ELTEC to help pay for initiatives aimed at the long-term unemployed and others who find it very difficult to secure work.
"This latest cash injection will help us to ensure that disadvantaged people can compete on the local labour market," said training operations director Dave Williams.
Part of the funding will pay for projects to assist the ethnic minorities.
The funding will help pay for projects including career guidance and a course to improve basic literacy and numeracy skills for the long term unemployed.
Specific help for ethnic minorities and young people with learning or health difficulties will also be given.
Said Mr Williams: "We are winning the battle against unemployment in East Lancashire. Now those who face particularly severe obstacle can receive the specialist help they need."
