BURNLEY teenagers are taking up the environmental challenge this summer by volunteering for green schemes over the school holidays.
The Youth Green Action scheme, run by the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers and Lancashire Wildlife Trust, started on Monday when young people worked on Towneley Park's Deer Pond.
"The work makes a real difference to the environment of Burnley," said Kim Coverdale of Lancashire Wildlife Trust. "It helps wildlife and teaches the next generation about green issues too."
Carrie Poskitt of the BTCV said: "Projects will include improving paths, waterway management and even building a bridge."
