THE sound of times tables being chanted at St James' CE Primary School, Clitheroe, heralded the start of a weekend of events marking the school's centenary.
Staff and pupils donned period dress to mark 100 years of the Greenacre Street site and took part in Victorian-style lessons.
The Bishop of Blackburn, the Rt Rev Alan Chesters, dedicated a new classroom, and head teacher Paul Adnitt welcomed 200 guests including Clitheroe mayor John McGowan, past head teachers and former governors.
Parents and nearby residents lined the streets and cheered youngsters on a procession to Clitheroe Castle for a picnic and games.
The school hosts an open day today from 1-5.30 pm, with an exhibition, Victorian music hall and maypole dancing.
