ACCRINGTON Stanley player Paul Robertson has been transferred to fellow UniBond Premier outfit Barrow and manager Tony Greenwood plans to use the four-figure fee to further strengthen his squad next week.

Former Witton star Robertson, who was one of the first signings Greenwood made when he joined the Crown Ground club last autumn, came for a four-figure fee from troubled Witton Albion.

He was originally a left full-back, but has also turned out on the left-side of midfield and in the free role behind the strikers.

"I signed Paul last November, but it has not really worked out for him and I gave him permission to speak to Barrow when they made an inquiry," said Greenwood.

"We will be using the money to bring in replacements," he added.

When Witton signed Robertson from Doncaster Rovers it cost the Cheshire club a massive £14,000.
