CONEY HILL 5 PRESTON GRASSHOPPERS 16

HOPPERS progressed to the second round of the National Knockout Cup by virtue of a disciplined performance in the third quarter of the game.

Their visit to Gloucestershire had begun well enough with an early Martin Emmett penalty but the home side fought back to take the lead with an unconverted try from Walker.

Handling errors caused problems and with no further points scored in the first half, Hoppers looked to face an uphill struggle playing into a stiff breeze.

Coney Hill were denied good ball, however, as the Hoppers forwards stepped up their game after the break.

A penalty try converted by Emmett was just reward and the stand off soon added two penalties.

Although Coney Hill rallied in the final stages, Hoppers defence held firm.
