PRAISE has been heaped on Bury school pupils who have again led the nation with their excellent GCSE results.
At a Bury Council education committee meeting on Wednesday (Sept 17), councillors discussed the examination grades which have been achieved in spite of cutbacks in the borough's education budget.
A massive 96 per cent of pupils in Bury schools left with at leasst five GSCE passes at grades A-G.
The figure is about ten per cent above the national average and follows a trend of high achievement over recent years in Bury.
In fact only the Isle of Scilly can claim a higher percentage than Bury - and there is only one secondary school on the island!
Bury pupils performed well in the higher grades with 46 er cent leaving school with five or more passes at grades A-C.
