BUSES from a bygone era will come out of the their depots to trundle along the two-boroughs' streets this weekend.

Bus enthusiasts are taking vintage vehicles for a drive on Sunday (September 21).

The BCN Society - the group which keeps alive the memory of Burnley, Colne and Nelson Joint Transport, the forerunner of the current bus company - has organised the event.

Secretary Alan Catlow said: "This is our first running day. Buses from the former fleet are due to be on display at Burnley and Nelson bus stations. They will also be running between the two locations at regular intervals to allow enthusiasts to photograph them.

"In addition to the ex-BCN vehicles, we have been promised the loan of two ex-Ribble vehicles that once worked the Barley services. One of these dates back to 1936."

The event is on between 10am and 4pm.
