THE Islamic centre in Pringle Street built a conservatory without planning permission and against all the reports by the officials in the town hall, who said that it was too prominent and out of keeping with surrounding houses.

And they also said that to allow the structure to stay would weaken any future cases.

Why did the sub-committee allow this centre to break planning laws?

I hope these same five councillors who wrote in to support the application will now support all those traders who are now having to withdraw the displays from their shop fronts by order of the council or be taken to court.
