Parr Hare & Hounds 12 Blackbrook A 21 HOUNDS went down to a second successive home defeat in this hard-fought local derby but can count themselves unlucky in coming up against a strong Brook side.

With no first team game, the visitors took the opportunity to bolster their side with the inclusion of several players, including former Wigan stand-off Anthony Hatton.

But Hounds competed throughout and with a little bit of luck might well have reversed the result.

An evenly-contested first half ended with the scores locked at 8-8, Hounds scoring tries through Jason Lawrenson and Darren Chisnall, and Brook replying with similar efforts by Stuart Wright and Paul Holden.

Brook edged ahead with a try by Paul Crellin but after a spell of sustained pressure Hounds replied with a touchdown by loose-forward Ian Marsh.

With the outcome still in the balance, Hatton finally tipped the scales in Brook's favour with a try and a drop goal. And the visitors made sure of the spoils with a fifth touchdown by Darren Mitchell.

Hounds were well served Jason Lawrenson, Barry Wilson, Paul Proudlove, Darren Chisnall, Ian Marsh and Keith Dugdale, while Paul Holden, Chris Marsh and veteran John Canning shone for the winners.
