ONE victory out of three was nowhere near enough for Lancaster to win the British Deep Water championships last weekend at Salt Ayre.
Lancaster's hopes were sunk on the opening day when, despite being led at the front by Burgess and Hartley, the home side suffered defeats at the hands of eventual winners Bristol (12-8) and second placed side London Penguin (9-8).
A 15-6 victory against Polytechnic gave Lancaster third place in the tournament but still left the players feeling disappointed at their overall performance. By this Saturday they will need to have put the disappointment behind them when they travel to Renfrew in the National Cup knock out without Burgess to lead their attack.
