A CRANE hire firm is keeping its eye on fuel facts, thanks to a Blackburn company.

Ainscough Crane Hire, which operates 14 depots and more than 350 vehicles, has bought a fuel management system from MPS Triscan.

The system includes special fuel pumps with electronic monitoring equipment installed at each depot.

Driver of fleet vehicles enter their details every time they fill up and the information is automatically downloaded to the head office.

The system enables Ainscough to check on each vehicle and driver's fuel use and can be used to highlight inefficient vehicles.

"It is an easy to use system and delivers a lot of very useful information.

"The system can also grow as our business expands," said Ainscough's purchasing manager Carole Rigby.

MPS Triscan, based at Harwood Street in Blackburn, is a subsidiary of engineering Group Meggitt plc and the country's largest supplier of fuel management systems.
