CLITHEROE Town Council's clerk has retired after more than 25 years in local government.

Peter Roberts, who is in his 60s, had been the clerk at Clitheroe for five years and handed in his resignation at the council's finance meeting on Monday.

He worked for local government in Margate before moving to the Ribble Valley with his wife ten years ago. They plan to move to Norfolk to be closer to relatives in Cambridge.
