HELP is at hand for anyone interested in entering Grimewatch.

Our new Grimewatch co-ordinator Lynn Schofield is just a phone call away for anyone with a problem or query.

She takes over from last year's co-ordinator Jennie Kernot, who has returned to university to complete her green studies.

Lynn, from Darwen, knows exactly what it is like to be a Grimewatch entrant - she has been one herself!

For the last three years she has been a volunteer for Groundwork in Blackburn. One of the many projects she was involved in was the creation of a sensory garden at Shadsworth Nursery, Blackburn - a project short-listed for an award last year.

She said: "I have been through the entire process so I know what it is like from an entrant's point of view."

Lynn, 50, said she had been a greenie since she was born. "I have always recycled what I can and always had a compost heap.

"I believe it is down to everyone to take responsibility for the environment." She said working with young people was particularly rewarding during her time at Groundwork, knowing they would grow up with good, green habits.

As Grimewatch co-ordinator, Lynn will offer help to anyone interested in entering the competition.

She can supply entry forms and offer advice and guidance on how to prepare a final report on projects.

She is also willing to visit entrants at the site of their projects to see how they are being developed.

She said: "I really believe that Grimewatch is a great idea.

"The environment starts at everyone's doorstep and everyone can do something to improve it."

So if you've done something to make East Lancashire a greener place - give Lynn a call.

She might just be able to help you become a Grimewatch winner!

Lynn can be contacted on 01254 678678 ext 244 from 9.30am to 12.30pm, Mondays and Thursdays.

Messages can be left at other times.
