A NIGHTCLUBBER has been cleared of an 'unprovoked attack' on a company director.

Peter Clegg was found not guilty of assaulting John Blackburn, causing him actual bodily harm, after a two-day trial at Burnley Crown Court.

Clegg, 33, of Wordsworth Street, Burnley, had denied the allegation.

The crown had alleged that Mr Blackburn suffered a cut eye and bruising after a 'totally unprovoked' attack on him by Clegg, his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend, at Mean Cat Daddies, Burnley, in January.

Clegg, who claimed he had been intimidated by Mr Blackburn, went over to remonstrate.

He told the jury he believed he was going to be attacked and held up his hands.

He may have caught Mr Blackburn but did not throw a punch.
