SINGERS will tomorrow head for Ireland to have fun and raise money for good causes.

Colne Orpheus Glee Union male choir offered their talents free of charge during a six-day trip to Eire.

They will sing in aid of a school for children with learning disabilities at Tralee, the storm damage repair fund at St Fin Barre's Cathedral, Cork, and the Kerry Cheshire Home at Killarney.

They will also sing at St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, and enjoy trips out to the Waterford Crystal factory and the Jameson Heritage distillery near Cork.

Thirty members, with wives and guests, will board the high-speed ferry from Holyhead and will stay at hotels in Portlaoise, Killarney and Dublin, returning next Saturday.

A fund-raising committee organised coffee mornings, garden parties and raffles to help pay for the trip.

The trip is a homecoming for musician Anne Mott, wife of Colne Parish Church rector Dr Peter Mott. Mrs Mott, born in Ireland, is joining the choir as stand-in accompanist.
