SHELLIE the kestrel is winging her way back to health thanks to a caring charity worker.
Helen Adsett, who runs the Blackburn-based Wildlife Line sanctuary, is helping Shellie recover from a broken leg.
The 18-month-old European Kestrel was found at Windy Bank Farm, Tottleworth, near Rishton, and needed a metal pin inserted in her leg.
Although she may never return to the wild, Shellie seems happy living with the sanctuary's flock, which also includes owls, gulls and buzzards.
Helen said: "She will probably never be released because her foot is permanently curled up. But she's very determined and doesn't let life get her down.
"She can feed herself and fly about and is happy enough with the other birds."
