A MAN suffered serious head injuries when he was assaulted in his home, and police are appealing for witnesses.
Donald Harrison, 50, had been drinking at the Hope and Anchor pub, Accrington, on New Year's Eve afternoon and later took a taxi back to Church.
At 1am, he was found by police in his flat at St James's Road, Church.
He was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary and has been interviewed by police.
Detective Sergeant Neil Hunter said: "We want to speak to the taxi driver to narrow down the time Mr Harrison came back to Church.
"We also want to speak to anyone who was around at about 1am and has seen anything suspicious, or any youths running away from the St James Road flats."
Two youths, aged 15 and 16, have been charged with assault with intent to rob and were due to appear before Hyndburn magistrates today.
