A MAN was due to appear in court today charged with murder following a house fire in which a 47-year-old man died.
Police said Christopher Holgate, 34, of Brush Street, Burnley, was due to appear before Burnley Magistrates.
Ivan Parker died in the blaze which broke out in his home in Clay Street, Burnley, just after 2am on Saturday.
Neighbours tried in vain to rescue Mr Parker from the house. One neighbour, David Parkinson, covered himself in a wet blanket and braved the blaze in a bid to rescue him from the terrace house.
The body of Mr Parker was eventually discovered lying on a bed in a front upstairs room by firefighters.
