Colwyn Bay 3 Accrington Stanley 1

AIDAN Warder's 49th minute equaliser gave Stanley real hope of getting something from this UniBond Premier relegation dogfight after a scrappy first half performance from both sides.

But the Crown Ground men were eventually scuppered by two second half Bay strikes to remain anchored at the foot of the league as the games begin to run out.

Early on, Stanley were unlucky when Steve Baines deceived Colwyn Bay goalkeeper Richie Roberts with a shot-come-cross from the right and he appeared to scoop the ball from behind the line.

Colwyn's first goal had come on 43 minutes when a shot from ex-Manchester United front man Craig Lawton took a deflection then bobbled in front of Jamie Speare. Another ex-Old Trafford player Deniol Graham was first to react and he scored from close range.

The second half saw Stanley pull level on 49 minutes when Ged Walsh played in Billy O'Callaghan for the striker to pull the ball back across the area from the left for Aidan Warder to strike an excellent shot into the net from 18 yards.

Stanley had a good spell when O'Callaghan saw the keeper scrambling back to his line, but he could only shoot over the bar.

Colwyn's second goal came on 71 minutes when a through ball found Graham Roberts and he raced clear to slot the ball home.

On 82 minutes Frank Mottram broke clear on the left and with Speare coming out to narrow the angle and with the defence nowhere to be seen, he squared the ball to Marc Limbert who shot into an empty net.
