IN response to Linda Green's comments regarding stray cats and suggestion that animal aid groups should work together (Letters, February 4 and March 9), I voluntarily run Blackburn Cat Rescue, I am not a charity.

My phone number is not in the phone book for two reasons: I would never get any cats fed, etc through answering the phone and secondly, I would be charged business rates for the entry. All the vets, the Cats Protection League and the RSPCA have my number and frequently give it out to people.

Yes, I do have a list of people wanting kittens - because it is not the kitten season yet - and also for particular cats, but it is not as long as that for cats needing homes.

As stated, I am not a charity and currently owe a vets bill of £1,000. The RSPCA help with vouchers for treatment and neutring, without which I couldn't continue.

A handful of very kind supporters send donations of money and food and I work part-time.
