A WOMAN allegedly attacked a young mum in the street, dragged her into a house then sexually humiliated her, a jury heard.

The alleged victim had been chased down the road by Anwar Begum Jan and abused in Punjabi before others joined in the assault, Burnley Crown Court was told.

She was finally rescued after her husband, who had been left "holding the baby," rang police on his mobile telephone.

Jan, 49, of Richmond Hill Street, Accrington, denies false imprisonment, indecent assault and common assault, on April 14 last year.

Robin Kitching, prosecuting, said the complainant had been leaving her house in Accrington, carrying her baby. She was with her husband and another child.

Jan, who was in a garden, shouted: "Come on, you chicken," in Punjabi and threw a stone which missed.

The young mother ignored Jan and went to her car, but the defendant yelled: "I am going to sort you out, once and for all" after her.

Mr Kitching said the woman, still holding her baby, was pursued down the road by Jan, who had armed herself with a piece of vacuum pipe.

Jan went up to the woman at her car and the alleged victim handed the baby to her husband.

Jan then began to assault her, hitting her on the head and body with the cleaner pipe.

The woman managed to get one of the two parts of the pipe and struck Jan in self-defence.

Mr Kitching said Jan called for help and her daughters came over and joined in the attack, along with a neighbour.

The woman was dragged across the road and into a house and forced onto a couch and indecently assaulted.

He said: "This was done to humiliate the complainant, rather than for sexual gratification."

The woman was finally rescued after her husband, who had been left holding the baby, contacted the police on his mobile telephone.

Officers arrived very quickly and the young mother was found to have suffered very minor injuries.
