WHILE most youngsters will make a reluctant return to school after the Easter break, Elliott Stephens cannot wait.

Elliott (9) of Westminster Avenue, Radcliffe, hit the headlines after his mother withdrew him from Radcliffe County Junior School over allegations of racist bullying.

But after four months of lessons from a private tutor, a place has been found for him at St Thomas's CE School in Bury.

He will begin at the school, which has been praised by Ofsted inspectors for its racial equality policy, in the new term.

"I'm so relieved because it is important that children mingle with others and learn in a school environment," said his mother, Mrs Elaine Ramsay.

She added: "The school has a good reputation for properly integrating children of mixed race - and on top of that, two of Elliott's cousins go there."
