YOU carried a report recently regarding hospital waiting lists having fallen to the levels they were at on the General Election on May 1, 1997.
In this report, Health Secretary Frank Dobson was claiming a great government achievement. However, he failed to tell us how this turn-around had been made.
On May 1, 1997, the waiting lists to see specialists stood at 250,000 - that's before patients even got on the waiting list for treatment. On April 1, 1999, this had risen to 460,000 - a rise of 210,000.
And Labour accused the previous government of massaging figures. Labour have never allowed the truth to get in the way of a headline-grabbing story.
