HINDLEY cross stitchers are cobbling up pieces of work for the Millennium Map.

Seven women are completing designs for the Wigan Soroptimists' project - including Kim Johnson who is working on the famous Walter Hurst's crossroads clog shop.

Lynne Frost is covering the police station and Elaine Kelly the Pennygate/Tollgate.

Ann Barnett's fire station and engine has already been included in the History Shop exhibition.

Irene Sullivan is working on "Hindley" and Mary Lindsey has finished her part of the border depicting rugby.

Meanwhile Janet Whittle is working on the hospice.

A Soroptimist spokesperson said: "We'd like to thank these ladies for all the hard work put into these contributions. We can't wait to see the end result."
