AS the curtain came down on the Poulton & District Seven-a-Side League season last Thursday (May 6), the annual cup finals for both the U9s and U10s were contested.

In the U9s final Poulton Youth played Clifton Rangers.

In the A game Poulton produced some excellent football and should really have won comfortably but had to settle for a 1-0 win through a strike by Thomas Douthwaite.

The B match was much closer and Rangers were much more in the game but neither team could penetrate their opposing defences.

It finished 0-0, giving Poulton the Colts Cup with a 1-0 aggregate victory.

Poulton's Matthew Kay was awarded the man of the match trophy.

Foxhall and Lytham Juniors faced each other in the U10s final and the A game was a classic.

Both sides produced some brilliant football and although Lytham probably carved out the better chances Foxhall won 1-0, Steven Seear's close range goal deciding the issue.

Foxhall had the edge in the B game although it remained goalless at half-time.

Second half strikes by Joshua Barron, Nicky Vann and Jordan Simpson gave the Foxhall outfit an eventual 3-0 win and an aggregate 4-0 victory.

Lytham's Gavin Malin received the match of the match award.

Blackpool Rangers manager John Miles received the manager of the year trophy.

William Watt was the recipient of the young referee of the year award, with Barry Knapman receiving the referee of the year trophy.
