ST HELENS Archers secretary Geoff Burrell is setting high standards for the rest of the club to live up to.

In recent competition he broke a long-standing record for the Hereford.

And in an amazing 60-yard shot he also managed - Robin Hood-style - to sink his arrow into one already in the target.

But Geoff's not the only member of the Moss Lane club to hit peak form.

Steve Banks has set a new record for the Long Western Round.

And Haydock's Jack Thompson won the April Handicap Shoot with a commendable 37 above his handicap. Runner-up was David Presley.

Meanwhile, the club opens its 1999 training programme tomorrow (Friday) with the first of its two beginners' courses.

They are run by nationally qualified coaches and comprise six two-hour weekly lessons and cost £15 for adults and £10 for under 18s, including the use of all training equipment.
