A SEMINAR is being staged next week to help firms ensure they don't fall foul of new legislation.

The Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Directive comes into effect on October 30 and sets out measures to tackle pollution. It will affect an estimated 1,500 companies in the UK particularly in industries such as chemicals, paper and metal processing.

The Groundwork Business Environment Association is hosting a business seminar to make companies aware of the new requirements.

The event, which will feature speakers from the Environment Agency and Taylors solicitors, will be held at the Groundwork Environment Centre, Blackburn on May 20.
