LAST Thursday's local elections saw the Liberal Democrats party claim three seats from the ruling Labour party.
In all, Labour lost four seats, with the Liberal Democrats reigning supreme in the Moss Bank, Newton East and Sutton and Bold wards while the Conservatives overtook Labour's seat in Rainford. The most noticeable aspect of the elections in St Helens was the low turn out almost across the board with Blackbrook the lowest - just 13.5 per cent of residents bothered to vote - and Rainford at 33.2 per cent was the only ward which had a turn out higher than 30 per cent.
