RAINHILL-based Radio Briars Hey station has closed after almost eight years.
Staff at the Mill Lane station paid tribute to their loyal listeners for their enduring support since Radio Briars Hey was first established back in 1992. Since then, the station has run eight successful trial broadcasts across St Helens, Newton and Knowsley but has now closed following last year's unsuccessful bid for a permanent licence from the Radio Authority.
However, the station is now planning to re-establish as Knowsley Community Radio from a new venue and will be setting its sights purely on the Knowsley area.
