A MOTION asking deputy Prime Minister to intervene over cuts to Pendle Council's road repair budget will be debated at the annual meeting on Thursday.

The motion criticises Lancashire County Council's decision to cut funding for road maintenance from £1,246,360 in 1991/92 to £463,000 this year.

Liberal county councillor David Whipp will move the motion which calls on the council to highlight its concerns over the cuts to Lancashire and ask Pendle MP Gordon Prentice to raise them in Parliament.

It also asks John Prescott to intervene with the county council to stop them providing a "worst value" service.
