THE River Darwen has been given a spring clean in preparation for an environmental event tomorrow.
Green-minded volunteers joined Bronwen Earnshaw from Blackburn with Darwen Council and Dave Hortin from the Darwen River Valley Initiative to pull rubbish from the river at Witton Park, Blackburn.
The aim was to clean up the river in time for the launch of the council's GreenWeek, which starts tomorrow with an environmental fair at the Witton Park Visitors' Centre.
