A HOME care boss who went to comfort a bereaved friend drove home after drinking four glasses of home brewed beer.
Anne Faith Mulligan, 45, was seen weaving across the road by an off-duty police officer and was two and a half times the legal limit when breath tested, Burnley magistrates heard.
Mulligan, of Collingwood Street, Colne, who had no previous convictions, was banned from driving for two years, fined £125 and ordered to pay £40 costs after admitting driving with excess alcohol.
Brian Irlam, defending, said Mulligan had gone to console a friend after a family bereavement.
She had four glasses of home brewed beer, felt perfectly able to drive and certainly did not believe she would be over the limit.
Mulligan, a home care supervisor, visited at least four elderly people each day and it would be impossible for her to carry on that job without a driving licence. The loss of her income would be a great punishment.
